  4. Nature stone garden tiles (or 'Natuursteen tuintegels' in Dutch)

In the next chapters we will explain each individual type of garden tile in more detail and give reasons to choose for one of these.

1. Ceramic garden tiles

Van den Bosch

Ceramic garden tiles are the highest quality garden tiles which require the least maintenance. This makes this type of garden tile the most beloved out of the lot. These tiles are produced with clay, which is hardened by exposing it to high heats.

There is a lot of variety between the tiles in this segment. From ceramic tiles that fit well into a modern styled garden, till a more natural appearing garden or even tiles with artistic print; there is more than plenty to choose from. Down below we will list the main advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

Ceramic tiles are mostly beloved for their high damage resistance, the low maintenance the tiles require and the resistance to losing its color overtime. 2. Concrete garden tiles

The concrete garden tile; this is the tile where it all started with for our company. In 1895 we started producing concrete as our main product. The concrete tile can be found all accross streets in the Netherlands as paving, but are also a great choice for your garden.

Where concrete garden tiles were really basic and of lower quality, this has definetely changed throughout the years. With great improvements in the developing process, concrete tiles nowadays are way less sensitive for damage. Also, they are more friendly to clean, which mainly is caused by the coating that is added onto the concrete tile.

Do you already have a sense of what concrete garden tiles are? Great! Down below we also give you the main (dis)advantages for these tiles.

Advantages

+ Easy laying process: concrete garden tiles are really easy to place in your garden

+ Cost friendly: these tiles are definetely a budget friendly option

+ Improved quality: as mentioned before, the quality of concrete tiles are decent nowadays

Disadvantages

- Less maintanence friendly: compared to ceramic garden tiles, concrete tiles are quite less maintanence friendly.

3. Baked pavement

Besides nice looking garden tiles for your garden, you will probably also need another type of paving: baked pavement. Baked pavement are a common sight in gardens and are a popular choice to use for a driveway, path or as the pavement of a terrace.

Baked pavement is produced by warming clay on extremely high temperatures. By doing so, the clay becomes hard. Because these are produced in this particular way, the baked pavement has some really appealing characteristics, which makes them a smart choice for your garden.

Baked pavement is available in the form of 'bricks', unlike the earlier mentioned pavement which are tile shaped.

Advantages

+ Keeps its beautiful color overtime: since the baked pavement is produced on high temperatures, the coloring it has does not wear overtime.

+ Resistant to cold temperatures: as the baked bricks are high in density, they have a high resistance to damage in cold temperatures

+ Quite maintenance friendly: compared to its main competitor in terms of 'brick' shaped pavement - concrete pavement bricks - baked pavement bricks are more maintenance friendly. This implies that there is less forming of moss and insects have a lower chance to nestle between them.

Disadvantages

- More costly than concrete pavement bricks: in terms of budget friendliness, the baked variant does come with a higher price card. However, the benefits do outweight these in our opinion.

This makes them a unique looking choice, which is definetely something different that stands out in your garden. Also for this type of tiles we will provide you the main pluses and minuses, so you can make a choice that is fitting for your garden.

+ Color doesn't change overtime: another advantage is that the color does not change significantly overtime.
